Tessa, A Laid Back Cat Looking for a Good Home

This post comes from the North Kingstown Animal Control Officer.  Please read and share with someone who will be a good candidate to adopt “Tessa.”

“Tessa” is still searching for her forever home. She is a 4 year old, spayed female, long haired cat. She is a sweet, quiet, laid back, girl who would be a great companion for an elderly person. “Tessa” would do best in a quiet home with no other pets or small children. For more information on “Tessa” please call the NK Animal Shelter at 401-295-5579.

The North Kingstown Animal Shelter is a division of the North Kingstown Police Department. We take in a wide variety of animals, mainly cats and dogs, but at any given time you may also find birds, rabbits, snakes, or other small pets such as guinea pigs. Please check back with us regularly to see who is currently staying with us!

We always welcome new volunteers who would love to help our animals! If you would like to volunteer stop by the shelter and fill out an application. You must be at least 18 years old to volunteer. Thank you!

We are open to the public 7 days a week (except holidays) from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Adoption hours are 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. There is an application required, and the fee varies with the animal.

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you’ll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
