Brown University Oncology Research Group 2nd Annual Food Truck Festival Set for Saturday October 17th

The North Kingstown Blog supports the efforts of local fundraisers, hospitals, and those affected by cancer.  October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and our friends at the Brown University Oncology Research Group are having an event that I would love to share with you.  Here is a posting from Allison Jean and Kristin Mitchell of BrUOG:

Brown University Oncology Research Group (BrUOG) is excited to announce their second annual Food Truck Festival for the group’s 21st anniversary. BrUOG was created in 1994 to coordinate clinical cancer research for Brown’s affiliated hospitals and Alpert Medical School faculty. The main mission of BrUOG is to improve cancer care through the implementation of innovative, multidisciplinary cancer clinical trials, which are created by Brown University faculty.

The second annual BrUOG Food Truck Festival is to be held during Brown Family Weekend, the afternoon of Saturday, October 17th from 11:30-2:30 . The event will include a handful of food trucks from Providence and the Greater Providence area, including Mijos Tacos, Z Truck, Ellie’s, Citizen Wing and Championship Melt. This event will also highlight local talent, featuring musical performances from local bands and area performers as well as Brown students. There will be representation from local businesses, who are generously sponsoring this event, come and learn more about the vibrant business community in downtown Providence.

The goal of this event is to bring the local community together- musicians, students, families, friends and neighbors, all to raise money and awareness for the vital and life-saving research happening at BrUOG. Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer, let us join together as a community to make a difference while enjoying the local cuisine and hearing the musical talents of those from the Brown community and beyond.

Thanks BrUOG for the great work you are doing in the fight against not only breast cancer, but all types of cancer.  Here is a flyer on the event that you can print out, download, and share with others. Let’s make this event a Rhode Island community effort to make a difference in the lives of families affected by cancer.
