The RIBBE is The Rhode Island Baseball Experience. It is promoting the game of baseball here in the great state of Rhode Island for the entire baseball world to see. The RIBBE is positive stories, photos, videos, and responsible social media posts. The RIBBE is an information resource for families looking for an AAU team or a summer camp or a great place to buy a first baseman’s mitt. The RIBBE is a network of coaches, tournament directors, parents, leagues, and baseball junkies whose passion of the game of baseball is unquestioned. I believe that providing expert analysis, information and directions to ballfields, and coaching advice from some of the top RI baseball minds will help promote the game of baseball here in RI to a whole new level.
The author, Jason Harvey, is the head coach of the 10U KR (Ken Ryan) Express team. Here is an update from Coach Harvey on this past weekend’s AAU baseball action:
Our KR Express 10U team won their pool in the New England AAU playoffs over two teams from Massachusetts.
We beat the Batter’s Box Renegades (Westfield, MA) 14-4 and the Plymouth Nor’easters (Plymouth, MA) 14-7.
We ended up losing in bracket play on Sunday to the Seawolves Baseball Club from Bristol, RI.
Three teams from RI made it to bracket play on Sunday. KR Express, Seawolves, and Providence Prospects. The Seawolves and Prospects advanced to the semifinals next weekend.
The Ocean State Junior Waves were the only other RI team to make it into the playoffs. They did not advance out of Pool Play.
There are 12 teams in total from RI in the 10U NEAAU Open Division. There are 60 teams total from MA, RI, CT, and NH. There may be one team from ME.
More about Jason Harvey, in his words:
I have been coaching for the last 5 years. I started coaching at the tee ball level. I’ve had the opportunity to coach for the last 5 years for Spring Rec, Summer Rec, Summer All Stars, and Fall Ball teams. I’ve coached with the KR Express AAU program for the last two years. I was the head coach of the 9U team last year and the 10U team this season. I’ve also assisted with Skills and Drills Clinics for players age 9-12 in my home town. I have designed and run an Elite Baseball Velocity Training Program that runs in 6-week blocks from October through March for players 9-15 years old.
