Warwick’s 9-10 Continental American Little League Thrills Fans, Families of RI

Warwick Continental American Little League® is part of Rhode Island’s District 3 Little League®.  This summer, WCALL enjoyed tremendous success in their local district tournament, then moved on to win the Rhode Island State tournament, and then advanced to the 9-10 Eastern Regional Tournament held right here in Cranston, RI.  Their impressive run in the districts, states, and regionals included amazing defensive plays, come from behind thrillers, and great hitting and pitching up and down the lineup.  Having watched Continental American defeat my hometown North Kingstown Wickford team, not once but twice in the districts, I knew this WCALL team was bound for something special.

And WCALL did not disappoint.  After winning the districts in the “if” game against NKW, Warwick then fought its way through the losers bracket of the State Tournament to beat a very impressive Cranston West Little League team, not once but twice to capture the Rhode Island 9-10 State Title.  Then, 4 consecutive wins in the Eastern Regional tournament against CT, VT, NH, and ME put the Warwick Continental American Little League team in the New England Finals vs. MA.  In the New England finals, WCALL came up short and fell to the eventual New England Champs – Team MA.

It was great following the Warwick Continental American Little League team this summer.  From Wilson Park and the District Championship to Hien Field and the State Championship to Varrato Field for the Eastern Regionals, this Warwick team was just fantastic.  Congratulations to all the players – you all have a bright future in baseball!!!  Great job by the parents, coaches, and WCALL organization for helping to make some special memories for these kids.  It was an impressive run and we were all lucky to be a part of your Rhode Island Baseball Experience this summer.
