In my tour of Rhode Island Little League® baseball fields, I visited Olneyville Little League at Silver Lake.  Their home field is located in the beautiful Neutaconkanut Hill Park off Killingly St. in Providence.  When I arrived, the City of Providence had just finished working on the surrounding fields and grounds and the park looked amazing.  The baseball field was in fantastic shape.  What struck me right away was the impression array of signs throughout the field.  Colorful signs, signs with messages to the families and kids like “Self Respect, Character, No Bullying,” and signs of support from local businesses and community leaders.  There was plenty of great seating throughout the baseball field area, and I really like the park benches located on the wall behind home plate.  Overall, this baseball field just had a ton of character and positive vibes from home plate to centerfield.

Having posted photos and some thoughts on social media about Olneyville Little League at Silver Lake, I have had the pleasure of meeting several coaches, parents, and League President Richard Hemphill.  Mr. Hemphill and I share a lot of ideas about character, sportsmanship, and teaching our youth baseball players the right way to play the game of baseball.  His social media posts are incredible to read and I look forward to connecting with him on future projects.  Olneyville Silver Lake Little League is really blessed to have this man as their community leader!!!

Congratulations to all the players, coaches, league volunteers, and league administrators on building a great organization at Olneyville Little League at Silver Lake.  Pictured below is Coach Alex Ruiz, his Senior Division Olneyville Little League “Ballers”, and North Kingstown/Wickford Little League’s Senior Division team.
