In the summer of 2018, I visited the Pawtucket Boys and Girls Club and took photos of the fields there. Upon posting them on Facebook, I received an email stating that one of the fields was used by local girls and womens baseball league – the Pawtucket Slaterettes. I reached out to Deb Bettencourt to learn more about the Slaterettes program and legacy. And I have interviewed Tina Trahan about her involvement with the Slaterettes and her amazing trip to the Boston Red Sox Fantasy Camp (women only) last winter. Truly, girls and womens baseball is alive and well here in Rhode Island thanks to the efforts of Deb, Tina, and the Pawtucket Slaterettes Baseball League.
