Bob Downey has been the Head Varsity Baseball Coach at East Greenwich High School for 21 years running. Wow, that is some accomplishment! And for the 14th year, Coach Downey will be hosting Rhode Island youth baseball players at the East Greenwich Summer Baseball Camp. The camp runs from August 2nd through the 6th at East Greenwich High School’s Avenger Fields. Bob reached out to me recently and shared this camp brochure with me.
Here are some of the camp’s highlights. First, you get to listen and learn from one of Rhode Island’s most respected baseball minds in Coach Downey. Downey always assembles an impressive staff of baseball coaches to help run the camp and this year is no exception. The East Greenwich Summer Baseball Camp will feature coaches Jared Hopkins, Robert Petrucci, Robert Malo, and Anthony Ucci. Each day, the players will work on all facets of the game of baseball along with fun and exciting competitions held throughout the week. The camp does have a concession stand and players can also elect to bring their own food for lunch. Every afternoon, there are games on the various fields at East Greenwich High School followed by a daily wrap-up and “Campers of the Day” announcements. On August 6th, the last day of camp, there is an awards ceremony which can be attended by parents. The camp is open to players 6 to 15 years of age. According to the brochure provided, all skill levels are welcome at the East Greenwich Summer Baseball Camp.
Here are a few photos of the East Greenwich Avengers Field I have taken over the years:
The 14th Annual East Greenwich Summer Baseball Camp runs from August 2nd through August 6th. The camp takes place on the campus of East Greenwich High School, which is located on Avenger Drive off Middle Road. Coach Bob Downey and his awesome staff of baseball coaches run an excellent camp with players learning a ton of fundamentals and mixing in games and competitions to make it fun. From parents I have spoken to over the years, everyone raves about what an incredibly positive experience it was for their child to attend the East Greenwich Summer Baseball Camp. So, if you would like to learn more about how you can sign up your youth baseball player, contact Coach Bob Downey at firstname.lastname@example.org or 401-398-1534.
