I received an email notification from Rumford Little League’s Eddie Wencis regarding two upcoming charity tournaments. Wencis, the President of Rumford Little League wrote “Just another reminder about the tournaments we will be holding to benefit two great charities.  All proceeds go to these causes.  I have attached the forms and rules.  Please review and get back to me.  I have heard from Warren, Darlington, Swansea, Attleboro, and Pineview and look forward to having many other teams join!!  Please forward this along to any other coaches, board members or presidents I may have missed.  The proceeds go the the family of Scott Grace and the Wounded Warrior Foundation.”

In past summers and early falls, I have attended these fantastic tournaments which are held at Rumford Little League’s Kimberly Ann Rock Baseball Fields. The fields are located off Ferris Ave, which is off Newport Ave/Route 1A in Rumford, just east of Providence. Whether it is Spring or Summer or Fall or Winter, every time I visit these Rumford baseball fields I am impressed. The volunteers and Rumford Little League community are so dedicated and committed to making their players’ baseball experience the very best it can be. The grounds are always clean. The Snack Shack is always stocked and staffed with friendly volunteers. There are several active baseball fields at Kimberly Ann Rock and all are in safe, playable shape seemingly year round. Here are a few photos of recent visits.

There is plenty of parking at Kimberly Ann Rock Complex. Also, the Ten Mile River Greenway Bike Path has an “on ramp” at Kimberly Ann, so you could potentially bike there to catch a game this summer. Rumford and its community members really do a nice job with these two tournaments every year. Here is the registration form Eddie attached in the email with information about the two tournaments.

The Wounded Warrior Foundation Tournament will be held the weekend of August 20 through the 22nd.

The Scott Grace Tournament will be held the weekend of September 24 through the 26th.

For more information about either of these two charity tournaments, including tournament rules, contact Eddie Wencis, President of Rumford Little League via email at president@rumfordll.com. Good luck to all the players, coaches, and leagues that choose to participate in this yearly tradition of baseball in late Summer/early Fall at Rumford Little League.
