Phil Trudeau, Vice President of Woonsocket Little League, messaged me over the weekend about sharing some tournament news. Woonsocket Little League, for the 28th year, will be hosting their Jimmy Fund Tournament in August. Here is more from Phil Trudeau, “The Woonsocket Little league cordially invite you to the 28th annual 2021 Jim Carr Jimmy Fund tournament benefiting the Jimmy Fund. This tournament will be held at Lajoie Field in Woonsocket and is for ages 8, 9, & 10 year old minor division players. It is a double elimination tournament beginning August 14th. Attached is the registration form for the tournament. All kids participating in the tournament receive a T shirt as a memento of the tournament and the top 2 teams receive a trophy. The deadline to receive registration forms is July 31st. We hope to see you there!!”
Here is the registration form for the tournament:
Lajoie Field is located in World War II Memorial Park in Woonsocket off Social St. The Park is amazing to walk around, listen to a band, play basketball, and of course watch a baseball game at Lajoie. The field is dedicated to Hall of Fame player Napoleon “Nap” Lajoie, who was born in Woonsocket and went on to become one of Major League baseball’s first superstars. His photos and career achievements adorn each dugout and pay tribute to one of the best baseball players of all time. Here are a few photos from trips I have made up to Woonsocket’s incredible Lajoie Field.
Once again, the 28th Annual Jimmy Fund Tournament hosted by Woonsocket Little League starts August 14th. You can contact Phil Trudeau at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com for more information or to sign up your league for the tournament. Good luck to all the players, coaches, and families participating in the 2021 Jimmy Fund Tournament.
