The annual Warwick City Series kicks off (weather permitting) Monday, August 23rd. This summer tradition features baseball organizations from around the city of Warwick competing in a round robin format of games against each other. The tournament is going to be held this year at Apponaug Baseball Complex. I spoke with Apponaug’s Dave Bouvier this week via email, who filled me in on this year’s City Series participants.
Starting Monday at 5:30pm, we (Apponaug Baseball) will host the Warwick City Series in Apponaug. There are two divisions competing in this City Series – Majors and Minors divisions. Majors is a 3 team double elimination bracket. Warwick Continental American Little League is the 1 seed; Warwick North Little League is the number 2 seed. Apponaug Baseball is the 3 seed. Minor Division will be a best of 3 between Apponaug and Warwick Continental. Games will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday if necessary.
The Apponaug Baseball Complex is located next to Warwick Town Hall, across from the Warwick Fire Station off Post Road. You can access the road to the field if you are coming from East Greenwich just after the first set of rotaries. I believe the road is right before the Warwick Post Office. Or if you miss the turn, you can access the field across from the fire station after you go through and around the next several rotaries, as if you are heading back to the highway or back to East Greenwich. Just make a loop around the rotaries and the access road will be on your right. There is plenty of parking.
Warwick Baseball League bragging rights are at stake for the 2021 Warwick City Series. Warwick Continental American Little League, Warwick North Little League, and Apponaug Baseball will all be competing this week for the City Series titles in the Majors and Minors Division. Good luck to all the players, coaches, leagues, and families participating in this year’s Warwick City Series!!!
