I was reading through Rhode Island baseball social media posts this week and came upon one from the Ocean State Makos. The post was introducing a “High School Pitching Fundamentals & Velo (velocity) Program” to be run by Rhode Island native and Pitching Coach Will Dawson. The clinic will be held at the Shark Tank, which is located inside Northeast Sports Training (NEST), 25 Coronado Ave., Warwick. Here is the photo from the post:
I reached out to Coach Dawson for more about his background and this upcoming program. “I am from Rhode Island, grew up in Narragansett, played baseball at Fitchburg State and Rhode Island College (RIC),” wrote Dawson. “I coached at RIC and at Wheaton College in Mass and also was a pitching coach for the Ocean State Waves in the NECBL (New England Collegiate Baseball League). As for as the program with the Makos and NEST, basically just 3x a week for 10 weeks throwing and strength and conditioning. Starting first week of January leading up to the week of pitchers and catchers for RI High school season.”
The clinic runs from January 4th to March 12th and will take place Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturdays. The flyer on social media promotes that the program will involve video analysis, mobility protocols, arm care programming, and much more. Plus, the strength and conditioning aspect of the program will be run by the NEST team of fitness professionals, led by owner Mike Macchioni, who has decades of experience in sports conditioning. The clinics and conditioning all take place under one roof, NEST, where the Shark Tank also calls home.
Great to meet Will Dawson and learn more about his background and this upcoming pitching clinic and program for high school baseball players. For registration and information about this High School Pitching Program run by Coach Will Dawson, visit www.makobaseball.com.
