According to the Rhode Island Interscholastic League (RIIL) baseball page, there are about 10 days left in the 2022 Spring Varsity Baseball season. The 2022 baseball season started on scheduled (minus a few rain delays) and teams have been competing all Spring for spots in the 2022 post season tournaments for Divisions 1, 2, and 3. Unlike years passed, all three Divisions will play their Championship Games at the same field, different days and times of course – Rhode Island College’s Pontarelli Field. Last year, for example, the Division 3 title games were played at McCarthy Field, West Warwick and the Division 1 and 2 games were played at Pontarelli Field, Rhode Island College.

So, if you are a high school baseball fan, family member, a college or professional scout, or a big time fan of baseball who writes blogs (like me), get used to driving up to 600 Mount Pleasant Ave, Providence – the home of Rhode Island College Baseball’s Pontarelli Field in the month of June. The RIIL have not filled in the brackets as of today, May 18th but here are the scheduled games, days, and championship series dates for each division for the 2022 Rhode Island Baseball State Championships:

As a refresher or a motivator, here are the reigning Rhode Island Baseball State Champions:

  • Division 1 – North Kingstown High School
  • Division 2 – Middletown High School
  • Division 3 – Hope High School

As always, good luck to all the players, coaches, schools, and families as you finish up your 2022 Rhode Island Interscholastic League Varsity Baseball season and best of luck in the playoffs starting for some of you in just under 2 weeks!!!

The RIBBE is The Rhode Island Baseball Experience. It is promoting the game of baseball here in the great state of Rhode Island for the entire baseball world to see. The RIBBE is positive stories, photos, videos, and responsible social media posts. The RIBBE is an information resource for families looking for an AAU team or a summer camp or a great place to buy a first baseman’s mitt. The RIBBE is a network of coaches, tournament directors, parents, leagues, and baseball junkies whose passion of the game of baseball is unquestioned. I believe that providing expert analysis, information and directions to ballfields, and coaching advice from some of the top RI baseball minds will help promote the game of baseball here in RI to a whole new level.
