The Rhode Island American Legion Baseball season gets started next week (June 13th and 14th) and runs into late July. Teams from all over Rhode Island compete in Seniors or Juniors divisions on some of Rhode Island best baseball fields. According to the American Legion Baseball link to “Rhode Island Baseball Teams,” there are 8 seniors teams and 9 juniors teams (Scituate Post 19 has 2 teams). These Rhode Island American Legion baseball teams, stacked with local middle and high school talent, will compete from North Providence High School to Cardines Field to Ponaganset High School to Old Mountain Field in June and July, with playoffs and championships to be played late July. As a proud former player (Post 39 way, way back in the day), I can honestly say this is some of the best baseball you will watch all summer long here in Rhode Island. I am really looking forward to catching a bunch of American Legion games this summer.
